Rustic Burlap & Twine Wedding Cake at the Millwood Station Event Center

Rustic wedding cakes have been very popular the last couple of years, and the trend is still going strong this year!!

Something about the textured look - soft billowy peaks of delicious light buttercream, creates an approachable personable elegant cake that everyone loves!

This wedding was at the Millwood Station Event Center, near Costco, in Winchester. The wedding cake was for 100 people, and the bride & groom also got a small anniversary cake boxed up separately.

For this wedding cake, the bride chose to use burlap and twine around the cake tiers, to tie in the burlap and twine that was being used in the wedding decor.

The wedding favors had the same twine bow around each favor, and looked perfect with the theme!

The bottom tier was a delicious spice cake and the top two tiers were red velvet cake - all filled and covered with light & yummy cream cheese buttercream. The wedding couple & their guests loved the cake, which is what we aim for with every order!

There was a cute surprise Groom's cake with this wedding as well - more pics on that coming soon!

Celtic inspired Wedding Cupcake Tower at Khimaira Farm, Luray, Virginia

This was a recent wedding cupcake tower done at the beautiful Khimaira Farm in Luray, Virginia. The groom was Irish, so they wanted to bring in the Celtic theme into the decoration of the cutting cake and cupcakes for the wedding.

The cupcake flavors were -

Chocolate cupcakes with fresh raspberry compote filling, topped with chocolate ganache and a handmade fondant Celtic trinity knot medallion

Vanillla cupcakes with fresh lemon filling, topped with fresh whipped cream and a handmade edible red fondant flower

The cutting cake was a vanilla cake with fresh lemon filling, covered with fondant and hand painted with a Celtic square knot design. The monogram wedding cake topper was provided by the bride.

There was a candy bar set up on the tables with the cupcake tower as the centerpiece. The bride and groom sent us a message after the wedding saying, "the guests raved about the cupcakes and did not even wait for us to cut the cake, and helped themselves to multiple cupcakes during the reception!"

So glad that the cupcakes were enjoyed by everyone! It was a pleasure being a part of the special and memorable occasion!

Vintage Ivory Floral Lace Applique Wedding Cake

Vintage Style Ivory Floral Lace Applique Wedding Cake in Winchester VA
Vintage Ivory Lace Applique Wedding Cake

Cupcake Novelties recently did a pretty vintage style ivory wedding cake at the lovely George Washington Hotel in Winchester, VA for a September wedding. The setting was picture perfect and the cake complemented the subtle muted neutral interiors and decor.

The cake was a Chocolate-Vanilla Marble cake with cream cheese buttercream filling. It was covered with our signature light and fluffly vanilla buttercream, colored ivory.

The floral lace appliques took well over 3 hours to design and place on the cake so it gives it the right effect. The bride fell in love with this style of cake design after seeing it online on Martha Stewart's wedding website.

This cake was supplemented by an additional sheet cake to ensure adequate cake servings for all the wedding guests. Cupcake Novelties is doing quite a few weddings this year where brides are using sheet cakes in addition to the wedding cake to save on costs.

Wedding Cupcakes in Red & Ivory

Wedding Cakes Cupcakes in Winchester, VA

These are some sample wedding cupcakes made for a wedding consultation. The wedding colors are red & ivory and the bride wanted an elegant look for her wedding desserts.

The cupcakes are covered in embossed fondant and topped with ivory flower blossoms, a red fondant rose, a red bow and a tiny "I Do" banner placard with a cute bow. The lacy butterfly cupcake wrappers add to the elegance of the cupcake designs!

The handmade decoration is all edible, made from yummy made-from-scratch fondant (except the "I Do" placard).
